Working alongside Story Chaplain - Charlotte Evans, we have enhanced our befriending model to enable us to support people who are living with dementia.

Through the provision of creative workshops, training, resources and one to one support we equip our volunteers helping them to create meaningful moments with people living with dementia either face to face, over the phone, or in a group setting.

The team are all 'Dementia Friends'. We are committed to continuing to undertake training to support us in our role working with people who are living with dementia. The most recent training we undertook was with Friend of the charity Fran Hamilton who is an Occupational Therapist, Trainer and Consultant specialising in support for people living with Dementia. The training was titled ‘Learning from Living with Dementia’.

We are calling our dementia inclusive model ‘Enhanced Befriending’. We welcome referrals for anyone with an early diagnosis of dementia who would like to benefit from friendship and company from one of our carefully matched volunteers.

“Not only have I had enriching conversations with my befriendee but also have been blown away by the heart of the organisation itself. I’m so grateful for the level of support you provide us with and was amazed when I attended the bereavement session and dementia training. You manage to take topics that have always felt so dark and helpless before and put a new hope, light and a fresh energy onto them. Thank you for everything you do”.

Your donations and support helps to change lives and overcome loneliness.

Could you support us financially? In doing so you will enable us to positively connect with older people who feel ‘invisible’, ‘forgotten’, and ‘alone’.

Regular monthly or one off donations make a significant difference to our Charity.

We need the generous support of our community, both big and small to improve the lives of society's most lonely, isolated and vulnerable older people.
